Bach's 48 Preludes and Fugues need no introduction; they are not only the most famous pedagogical musical work every written but also great music. Jill's complete recording is released this year on Signum Classics.
Handel's "Harmonious Blacksmith" is undoubtedly his most famous keyboard work and forms the last movement of one of his keyboard sites. It almost certainly dates from his early compositional life in Germany, but was published and popularised once he had become famous in England.
Mozart's Piano Variations were written for teaching purposes, but also contain both wit and depth.
Beethoven's Op 126 Bagatelles were his last work for the piano, and display an unprecedented profundity and complexity for pieces of their small size.
The early Christian saint St Cedd is buried in Lastingham. This is an historic and beautiful location.
Profits from the concert will go towards the Lastingham Organ Project (replacing the church organ)
