2008

August - Jill's recordings have been spotted as far afield as the in-flight music entertainment channel of Singapore Airlines.

July - Jill's season has just ended with concerts at Keighley, Forcett Hall and St Albans' Maltings. On 30 July, her recent recording of the Preludes and Fugues was described as

one of the most satisfying recent releases of Bach's keyboard music on the piano

by noted critic Rob Cowan, who played Prelude and Fugue No. 9 from Book 2 on his Radio 3 breakfast show. This is still available till 6 August using BBC Radio 3's 'Listen Again' service / iPlayer or by clicking directly on this link or on the Radio 3 banner beneath. The extract starts at 1 hr 3 minutes into the programme.

June - Jill has made an outstandingly successful debut at The Sage Gateshead, in between concerts at the cathedrals of her native Wakefield and Bradford.

April - a busy month sees concerts in all parts of Yorkshire, including a debut in Beverley Minster and also a recital at the Cobbe Collection of historical instruments in Surrey, where Jill played on Chopin's 1846 Pleyel piano (below). Book 2 of the Bach Preludes and Fugues has now been manufactured. Click on the image to reach the Cobbe's website

March - Final preparations are under way for the issue of Jill's Preludes and Fugues Book 2. Here is a preview of the front cover. Click on the image to see more details.

February - Jill's Bach 48 Preludes and Fugues have been well-received in reviews, referred to as 'polished and compelling' in International Record Review, a recording with 'self-assurance and authority' (Classical Source) and one of the best versions recorded (Classical Net). Her live performance at St George's, Bristol was reviewed as 'powerful and authoritative.'

January - Jill's first recital of the year is at Fairfield Hall, Croydon, where the Signum Classics release of Book 1 of Bach's Well-tempered Clavier will be available for the first time. We are pleased to announce that the release of Book 2 has been scheduled for June.

 

2007

December 2007 - Jill's year concludes with a successful recital at the Vienna Konzerthaus. Jill's Bach Well-tempered Clavier Book 1 is now available on Signum Classics (click on cover image for more details.)

November 2007 - this busy month has had ten concerts, including the Brahms Piano Quintet at the Wigmore Hall with the Asasello String Quartet from Switzerland, and recitals at Ripon Cathedral and Kendal Town Hall.

October 2007 - As Jill enters a busy autumn, we are pleased to announce that the release of Jill's Bach Well-tempered Clavier Book 1 is now scheduled for January. Click on the image of the cover (December, above) for more information or go to "September 2006" below and click on Signum's logo to see their site. There are six concerts this month.

September 2007 - We are pleased to announce that Jill has been accepted into the Yorkshire and N / NE Lincolnshire 'Musicians in Residence' scheme for next year.

Concerts this month include first visits to Hereford, to play on the new 'Museum of Cider' Steinway and to Hornsea in East Yorkshire.

August 2007 - Jill has been delighted to participate in the Wylde Green recital series in the West Midlands, a concert audience built from nothing that has gone from strength to strength in a few years.

July 2007 - Concerts this month have included a first visit to the Lion Ballroom, a period venue in Leominster, the Wren-style church at Gainsborough and the Chapel Royal at Brighton.

June 2007 - Jill has made extensive preparations for a rare organ recital, on Handel's own organ in the church of St Lawrence's, Little Stanmore.

March - May 2007 - Jill's concert schedule is becoming busier weekly; this month has featured visits to Yorkshire and the North-East. A highly successful concert in Barnsley was part of a programme of audience development in South Yorkshire.

 

 

Advance notice of Jill's next Wigmore Hall appearance: November 16th, where she will play Brahms' Piano Quintet with rising young Swiss quartet the Asasellos.

 

Plans for the 2007-8 season include a debut recital at the Leipzig Gewandhaus, a return to the other debuts in Basel and Italy, and an extensive tour of the Scottish Highlands and Islands.

 

February 2007 - Read reviews of Jill's recordings in the new edition of the authoritative Penguin Guide to CDs and American Record Guide

January 2007 - Jill gives an extremely successful Wigmore Hall recital among other concerts.
